IS DRINKING HEALTHY?

Many news stories and rumors have been passed around claiming that drinking is indeed good for you. Some of these may actually be true, but you have to realize that certain kinds of drinking are always unhealthy.

Drinking is always unhealthy if you:

Binge drink (large quantities of alcohol in a short period of time sporadically throughout a month or year).

Inconsistent drinking.

More than 2 drinks in one sitting or 7 in a week.

If you are drinking safely then there are some health benefits to alcohol. A Danish study found that one drink a day lowered coronary heart disease in men by 41% and in women by 35%. However, drinking once a day nearly doubles the risk of liver cirrhosis, cancer, trauma, and other heart and liver diseases.
The bottom line is that drinking in extreme moderation (once maybe twice a week) may not be damaging to your health, but don’t think that drinking is actually beneficial.
